P.A. Mathison
Musician | Artist | Mother
Welcome, and thanks for stopping by!
My name is P.A., and I’m originally from Calgary, Alberta.
I grew up surrounded by beautiful mountains, vast plains, and a very musical family.
I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. My first works were red crayon scribbles on my family’s ping ping table, on the back of my dad’s vintage ukulele, and on my brother’s “Hey Jude” 45 (all in one day). After that, my parents made sure I was provided with all manner of art supplies that didn’t include precious heirlooms.
I’m inspired by the album covers of my youth, the old DoodleArt posters that we all got for birthday presents, and the illustrations from children’s books. On the flipside, I love traditional painting as well…everything from Sargent to The Hudson River School.
I have been teaching and selling art for over twenty years. After years of having a formal studio space and a more traditional approach to painting workshops, I found that hosting in my 1912-built farmhouse provided a richer, more intimate experience. Our family has always been the ones that throw the parties, host the weddings, and create events….and we’d love to share that same experience with you.
When I’m not painting, you can find me on stage at local wineries and coffee shops with my band called Dry Goods! Check out our music here.
